Description
AmblyoVR is an immersive ghost-hunting game targeted at children with Amblyopia. This condition, more commonly known as ‘Lazy Eye’, is a medical condition that causes one eye to be weaker than the other.
Traditionally, patients have used patching of the stronger eye as a form of treatment. However, patients tend to be noncompliant due to the stigma of wearing an eyepatch.
With the advancement of Virtual Reality (VR) technology, it has been discovered that VR usage can be a form of treatment for Amblyopia. As such, we developed a game incorporating features such as dichoptic training and in-game patching, backed by research, to introduce a fun, new way of treating Amblyopia.
In this game, players will travel through a haunted mansion with a mission to nice-ify the ghosts by throwing ‘Nice Balls’ at them. This trains their depth perception as they are required to aim accurately and shoot at the ghost while dichoptic training forces them to use their weaker eye during gameplay.
