The Medical Grand Challenge (MGC) is a student‐led medical innovation program started by the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS Medicine) in 2016.
While we strive to encourage medical students to identify unmet healthcare needs, we also believe that it is vital for students from various faculties to work collaboratively, bringing their passions and creativity together to engineer innovative solutions of tomorrow. With the cross-exchange of ideas and perspectives, students may gain a more fulfilling learning experience while exploring creative, sustainable and viable solutions to address these pertinent needs.
The theme for this year's MGC is "Embracing Innovation, Empowering Health". Our aim is for students passionate about improving the healthcare system to develop their own medical innovations, thus, bringing about everlasting impacts to various stakeholders or the community at large. With the empowering impact of innovation on health at focus, we encourage participants to embrace new creative ideas and technologies. We aspire for MGC to serve as a platform for interdisciplinary teams to develop an inquisitive mind for innovation and enterprise, ensuring that Singapore's healthcare remains efficient, relevant and effective amidst today's health challenges.
The competition begins in January, and through a series of workshops and panel discussions, culminates in the most anticipated event of the competition, the Grand Finale Event on 17 August 2024. This will be a physical event, where team projects will engage in poster presentations and live oral pitches. Projects will then be evaluated and scored for creativity, design quality, healthcare impact, sustainability and business strategies and viability by an esteemed panel of judges varying from clinical practitioners to leaders in the medical technology, engineering and finance industry.
See you then!
