Epione is a mobile application which transforms patients’ medication experience by marrying medication and motivation. Epione features interactive games which leverage on a cue-action-reward system to promote consistent pill-consumption habits. Epione also offers players numerous opportunities to connect with one another, enabling patients to support and motivate one another in their healthcare journey.

Problem

1 in 4 Singaporeans over 40-years-old suffer from at least 1 chronic illness, many requiring long-term medication with 60% who are medically non-compliant. This problem stretches beyond Singapore, especially in US and UK where a greater proportion of their population suffer from multi-morbidity and consequently poly-pharmacy.

Among other factors, poor motivation contributes to poor compliance, resulting in suboptimal management. Epione is the culmination of extensive research into the psychosocial drivers of human motivation and addresses the main reasons for medical non-compliance: forgetfulness and lack of motivation.
