Wanna take a walk around the campus to relax your mind? Willing to know more about mental illnesses? Interested in helping a deer, an alligator, a panda and maybe, yourself? Project O'ASSIS+ is here for you! A treasure hunting campaign to destigmatize common mental illnesses among us.
Home-based Learning is distressing: you sit in a digital room filled with darkened screens and faceless names all around. And when class ends, instead of lunch-jios and friendly banter, you are met with silence and your darkened bedroom. Introducing ModChat, a telegram chatbot that safely and anonymously connects you to friends of the same module and major, so that you will never take another zoom class alone again. Search NUS Modchat on Youtube, or message @makerthon-bot to get started!
Are you a NUS student looking to improve your mental wellbeing? Do you feel overwhelmed by commitments from school, work or private life? Do you have someone close to you who is experiencing poor mental health? Have you ever wished that there were a comprehensive app that could provide guidance and community support during this journey? If you answered yes to any of these questions, we have just the application for you! NUS Odyssey is here to help you through the adventurous journey to strengthen your mental health and help others.
Our project is a plush interactive desktop companion that seeks to relieve NUS students’ stress and cultivate healthy coping mechanisms. In order to come up with a solution to recognise and address potential distress in students, we conducted many interviews, where we learnt that students face a lot of stress studying and preparing for exams/internships. Due to high workloads, they tend to forget to take breaks and lead to even more stress from overworking. Students are also further isolated from communities due to Covid-19 and lack companionship. The plush interactive desktop companion achieves these goals by reminding students to take breaks while studying, provide relevant wellness advice according to the time of day and provide them with a sense of comfort at their working table.
NUS Pals strives to build a stronger connection between students living on campus by fostering a greater sense of belonging through targeted welfare activities. We also aim to promote conscious and meaningful interactions amongst members of the NUS community. Lastly, we intend to create safe common spaces for socio-emotional support catered to different groups of students that are rooted in a culture of gratitude and appreciation.
Making friends in University is not as easy as we think it is. As we dash between our commitments, we long for companionship from our friends. Yet, at the same time, it is difficult to find time and opportunities to make new friends. Fret not! Project Fren-Z is here to help you make friends on the go through an interest-based matching algorithm.
