The Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT) invites all who are involved with higher education in Singapore to the Higher Education Conference in Singapore (HECS – formerly known as Higher Education Campus Conference – HECC) 2024, which will take place on 3 December 2024 (Tuesday) at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
What is HECS (formerly known as HECC) 2024?
For the past few years, HECC served as the main educational conference at NUS, offering those who are committed to NUS education a platform to network and learn from each other. This year, CTLT would like to extend the conversation to our fellow educators from the autonomous universities (AUs) in Singapore.
Just as it was with HECC, HECS will offer an opportunity for educators from the AUs in Singapore to discuss and share our respective teaching and learning practices while continuing to explore emerging issues in higher education. The conference is vital for the establishment of a community of those who have an interest in the Singapore higher education landscape.
Theme
This year’s conference will centre around the theme, “Crafting Opportunities from Challenges”. The rapidly evolving higher education landscape is filled with challenges, including the rise of Generative AI and Large Language Models, the imperative to cultivate students who will actively contribute to the broader community, and the pressing need to prioritise student wellbeing. Join us as we engage in dynamic discussions on teaching and learning approaches to transform challenges into opportunities for growth, crafting a brighter tomorrow for our students.
We invite extended abstracts on the following sub-themes:
Opportunities from Generative AI
Despite the rapid evolution of Generative AI, we want to consider how this technology can be leveraged for teaching and learning in higher education.
Opportunities from Engaging Communities
Through engagement with communities, we want to consider approaches and initiatives to foster social responsibility within our students.
Opportunities from Wellbeing
In the critical realm of student wellbeing, we want to consider strategies and approaches aimed at nurturing mental wellness and promoting psychological safety.
Others
For abstracts that do not fall into any of the three sub-themes.
