The Centre for Hydrogen Innovations (CHI) invites passionate pre-university students (born in 2006-2010) to take part in the CHI Innovation Challenge 2026, an exciting team-based competition that explores the intersection of artificial intelligence, hydrogen energy, and decarbonisation.
Building on the success of previous editions—where nearly 300 students from 18 schools participated—the 2026 challenge promises an even more engaging and impactful experience. Participants will form teams of 2–4 members and embark on a two-stage journey of learning and innovation. A registration fee of SGD 30 per team applies.
The competition begins with Round 1 (Knowledge) on 6 June 2026, featuring a learning session on AI for Science led by NUS lecturer Dr Lim Chia Wei, followed by a team-based quiz. The top 12 teams will advance to Round 2 (Innovation) on 28 June 2026, where they will design and present an AI-powered solution addressing real-world challenges in hydrogen and decarbonisation. Finalists will showcase their prototypes through creative presentations to a panel of judges and a live audience.
Beyond competition, participants will gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies, develop problem-solving and teamwork skills, and connect with like-minded peers. Attractive prizes will be awarded, including a $3000 top prize, along with Best School and Audience Choice Awards.
