A stoma is an artificial opening in the body to remove waste from the digestive system. Ostomates (people with stomas) face an overwhelming amount of stress and frustration in adapting to, as well as accepting that they will have a stoma. We aim to ease the burdens during this transitional phase through community-driven emotional support and user-friendly educational tools. A mobile application and posters will be the main tools in guiding ostomates’ usage of stoma related accessories. We hope that our work appeals to ostomates as well as clinicians looking to use educational tools to ease the post-surgery recovery process.
