SimpleHomeSecure, or SHS for short, is a modular home security system that takes out the complexity of existing security systems. In the current generation, there are two main types of security applications. Firstly we have traditional security companies deploying custom security appliances. Although this is the main system of choice for non-tech-savvy owners of landed property, its pain point is its high cost of entry. The second and more popular solution is a cloud based security solution using cameras.

The solution we have is a modular home system of multiple security modules. With this system, users can utilize low-cost modules or existing cloud solutions to fully secure their home. For the proof of concept, we have an intrusion module, a camera detection module and a portal for users to manage these modules.

We want to create a pervasive computing solution that will help the home owners in detecting unusual movement inside the areas of their house, and immediately inform the owner of the presence of trespassers and intruders through a mobile app. This system is affordable for the common masses, and is flexible and modular which allow users to customize the system for different security needs.
