Description
fiDent
A portable financial identity for Southeast Asia's platform and gig workers.
Millions of workers increasingly earn through platforms rather than traditional monthly salaries. They may complete hundreds of jobs, generate consistent income, and demonstrate reliable work behaviour, yet much of this information remains scattered across apps, screenshots, and bank accounts.
Traditional credit systems often cannot interpret these signals effectively.
fiDent transforms fragmented work and income data into a portable, lender-ready financial identity, helping gig workers demonstrate their real economic behaviour rather than being assessed mainly through conventional credit histories they may never have had the opportunity to build.
The Challenge
Gig and platform workers can face difficulty accessing financial services because:
- Their income may come from multiple platforms
- Earnings can vary from month to month
- Work history may not appear in traditional credit records
- Financial information is often fragmented across apps and accounts
- Lenders may have limited visibility into their actual earning behaviour
This can leave financially active workers underserved despite having regular income and consistent work patterns.
The fiDent Approach
fiDent brings together alternative financial and work-related data, then uses AI to translate those signals into a structured behavioural credit profile.
Instead of looking only at traditional borrowing history, fiDent is designed to assess how a worker earns, how consistently they work, and how stable their financial behaviour is today.
The goal is to make real economic activity visible, portable, and useful for responsible credit assessment.
How It Works
1. Collect Real Economic Signals
fiDent can bring together alternative data such as:
- Platform earning records
- Gig-platform activity
- Bank-account information
- Earnings screenshots
- Work consistency
- Completion behaviour
- User-provided financial information
2. Translate Activity into Financial Intelligence
The fiDent AI engine can translate these fragmented inputs into useful financial indicators, including:
- Earnings stability
- Work consistency
- Platform tenure
- Completion behaviour
- Income trends
- Macroeconomic context
- Fraud indicators
3. Build a Behavioural Credit Profile
Instead of relying mainly on previous loan history, fiDent creates a three-digit behavioural credit score and structured financial profile based on how the individual is earning and working today.
4. Make the Identity Portable
The resulting profile can become a reusable financial credential that workers can carry across platforms and potentially present to participating financial institutions.
What Makes fiDent Different
- Behaviour-based assessment: Focuses on current earning and work behaviour rather than relying only on previous borrowing history.
- Gig-economy native: Designed around how platform and freelance workers actually earn.
- Alternative-data translation: Converts fragmented work and income data into lender-ready financial information.
- Portable financial identity: Creates a profile that is not limited to a single platform.
- AI-supported scoring: Uses AI to translate work and income signals into structured financial intelligence.
- Fraud-aware architecture: Incorporates fraud indicators into the assessment process.
- Verifiable portability: Supports a financial identity that can move with the worker across participating services.
Traditional Credit Assessment vs. fiDent
Traditional Credit Assessment
- Primary focus: Previous borrowing and repayment history
- Income visibility: Often based on conventional salary records
- Gig-worker data: May be difficult to interpret
- Financial profile: Often fragmented across different platforms and accounts
- Access challenge: Thin-file workers may struggle to demonstrate creditworthiness
fiDent
- Primary focus: Current earning behaviour and work consistency
- Income visibility: Uses alternative work and income signals
- Gig-worker data: Designed specifically to interpret platform-based activity
- Financial profile: Brings fragmented signals into a structured profile
- Access opportunity: Helps workers demonstrate a broader picture of their financial behaviour
In short: fiDent is designed to help financial institutions see the economic activity that traditional credit systems may miss.
Why It Matters
A lack of conventional credit history does not necessarily mean a lack of creditworthiness.
The project highlights this challenge through the example of a platform worker completing more than 30 orders per day and earning SGD2,000 to SGD2,800 per month, yet being unable to secure an SGD8,000 motorcycle loan because traditional systems cannot fully see his economic activity.
fiDent addresses a fundamental financial-inclusion question:
How do you lend responsibly to someone whose ability to repay exists, but whose financial identity does not?
For Gig Workers
- Build a portable financial identity
- Demonstrate real earning behaviour
- Present a broader picture of financial reliability
- Reduce dependence on traditional credit history
- Potentially improve access to appropriate financial services
For Financial Institutions
- Access alternative borrower intelligence
- Better assess thin-file customers
- Understand emerging worker segments
- Expand responsible lending opportunities
- Improve visibility into non-traditional income patterns

The Pitch
Gig workers are generating economic value every day, but much of that value remains invisible to traditional credit systems. fiDent translates work into identity, and identity into financial opportunity.
